Omar Case Jr., Maysville leader, dies at age 82

Omar Case Jr., a local business owner and civic leader who helped revitalize downtown Maysville, died Tuesday at his home on Glenn Drive in Washington.

Mr. Case, 82, was the owner of Case's Men's Wear in downtown Maysville. The clothing shop became an anchor for the central business district when it opened more than 40 years ago.

Mr. Case was a founding member of Rescue the Russell, an organization dedicated to restoring the Russell Theatre, described as one of Maysville's signature attractions. He was also instrumental in the restoration of the First Christian Church on East Third Street.

Survivors of Mr. Case include his wife of 61 years, Elsie Crawford Case; a son, David Case; a daughter, Charlotte Case Lundergan; seven granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, and services will be held at 11 p.m. Monday, at the First Christian Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brell Funeral Home.
