A Montgomery County man died after being shot by his estranged wife Monday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded to a call about a shooting at Debbie Shouse's home on Norman Road in Jeffersonville just before 4 p.m., said Sgt. Ralph Charles, a detective with the Montgomery County sheriff's department.
Anthony Shouse, 46, who lived next door to his wife, was taken to St. Joseph Mount Sterling, where he was pronounced dead at 4:47 p.m., said Montgomery County Coroner Wallace Johnson. He said Anthony Shouse had been shot once in his right side.
No charges had been filed against Debbie Shouse as of Monday night.

Anthony Shouse had "a very long history" of emergency protective orders against him, with his wife as the petitioner, Charles said.
Charles said officers are investigating whether Debbie Shouse might have shot her husband, who lived next door to her, in self defense. "She was the one fired the weapon," Charles said.
He said an autopsy Tuesday should provide more information.
The case will be presented to a grand jury, Charles said.
