A 14-year-old passenger died early Sunday morning when a pickup truck driven by another 14-year-old crashed on a wet road in Owsley County, Kentucky State Police said.
The passenger, who was from Booneville, was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. The victim was wearing a seat belt, according to state police.
No names had been released Sunday night.
According to state police, the crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday on old Ky. 11 in Owsley County near Booneville.
Troopers said a silver 2005 Dodge Ram pickup was being driven by a 14-year who apparently lost control on the wet road. The truck struck a culvert, police said.
The driver later was transported to the University of Kentucky Hospital.
An investigation is continuing and charges in the case are pending, according to a report from state police at Richmond.
