Stamping Ground man killed after being hit by multiple cars

GEORGETOWN — A 51-year-old Stamping Ground man was killed Friday night after being hit by multiple cars on Frankfort Pike in Scott County.

Darrell Lyons was attempting to cross the road near the intersection of Canewood Lane and Frankfort Pike at around 8:10 p.m. when he was struck by first one vehicle and then a second vehicle, according to a release from Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn's office.

He was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington where he later died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the Fayette County Coroner's office.

Georgetown Police officials said Lyons was trying to cross U.S. 460 westbound when he was hit by one vehicle and then struck by a second vehicle.

Georgetown Police officials said there were no arrests. The incident is still under investigation but it appeared to be an accident.
