Woman found dead after Perry County fire

Kentucky State Police were investigating the death of a woman found dead in her house after a fire Monday in the Perry County community of Leatherwood.

Fire crews found Kathy Osborne in the back room of a home on Ky. 699 of Slemp. No one else was injured.

The fire started about 5 p.m. Monday, Leatherwood Fire Chief Carter Hall said. It took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the blaze, which damaged the front rooms of the single-story home.

Hall said Osborne suffered some burns, but it was unclear whether fire or smoke killed her. An autopsy was expected to be conducted Tuesday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Frankfort.

State fire marshals are investigating. State police said foul play is not suspected.
