Louisville man charged with DUI in wreck that kills London woman

A Louisville man was charged with driving under the influence after a single-vehicle crash in Scott County killed a passenger in his car Sunday evening.

Brian Pollard, 38, was driving west on Interstate 64 when his sport-utility vehicle dropped off the right shoulder, hit a rock cut and rolled several times, state police said in a news release. The passenger, Peggy Williamson, 40, of London, died of multisystem trauma, according to a news release from the Fayette County Coroner's office.

The crash happened near the Fayette County line about 7:40 p.m. Williamson died about four hours later.

Pollard and Williamson were both wearing seatbelts, the state police release said. Pollard was taken to the Scott County Detention Center after being released from University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

State police Detective Kevin Calhoon said the relationship between the Pollard and Williamson wasn't clear, but police thought the two were friends.

Pollard is charged with DUI, driving without insurance and failing to notify the Department of Transporation of an address change. More charges may be filed, Calhoon said.
