Cynthiana man faces arson charges after 3 fires

A Cynthiana man was charged with three counts of arson in connection with fires at three properties, according to the Kentucky State Police.

Dwayne A. Yarnell, 47, was charged after an investigation of fires at 227 West Pike Street, 317 Keyhole Avenue and 106 North Church Street in Cynthiana on June 18 and 19, according to the police press release.

Richard Hutchison of Cynthiana is the owner of 227 West Pike Street and was in the process of buying the other two properties.

Kentucky State Trooper David Jones said police aren't releasing information about a possible motivation for the crime because the investigation is open.

Jones also declined to release information about the relationship between Yarnell and Hutchison.

All three addresses were homes, and Jones said Hutchison was not at the West Pike Street home at the time of the incident.

Yarnell is being held at the Grant County Detention Center.
