Cars, homes and one barn damaged in Montgomery County storm Thursday

A strong storm blew through Montgomery County Thursday afternoon.

About 2:21 p.m., a storm producing what are thought to be straightline winds caused damage to several homes, cars, and completely ruined a barn, Montgomery firefighter Darren Blevins said.

Several tree limbs were reported to have fallen on cars and homes, and a movie theater also suffered damage, Blevins said.

There were no reported injuries to people or livestock, Blevins said.

Maysville Road was closed for nearly an hour before crews were able to open one lane. Blevins said both lanes were open by 6:30 p.m.

About 200 people were without power Thursday evening.
