A body found Thursday on an old strip mine in Pike County has been confirmed as that of Brandi Ann Fields, 33, who had been missing since July 15.
The people who found the body in a remote area of McCarr in Pike County were looking for Fields near where she disappeared.
Kentucky State Police are investigating the death but did not provide any information on Saturday.
Pike County Deputy Coroner Michael Hall said the cause of death is still pending.
Fields, of Ransom, had a son, Tyler Nicholas Fields, and is also survived by her father, Randy Edward Fields of McCarr, and her mother and stepfather, Lana Smith Blankenship and Ricky Blankenship of Ransom.
Services are to be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at R.E. Rogers Funeral Home in Belfry.
