Washington man dies after car hits cow

A Mackville man died in a crash involving two cows Tuesday morning in Washington County.

State police said Harold Lewis Jr., 27, was driving a 1997 Dodge Neon north on Ky. 433 when he swerved to avoid hitting a cow that was in his lane. His car went into the southbound lane and hit a second cow at 5:47 a.m.

The Neon went through a fence and landed in a creek bed, where it burned.

Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy is to be conducted, state police said.
