Man dies a day after I-75 motorcycle crash in Fayette

An Ohio man died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital one day after crashing his motorcycle on Interstate 75, authorities said.

Paul E. Bender III, 41, of Galloway, Ohio, died at 9:14 p.m. Thursday in the hospital's neurosurgical intensive care unit, according to the Fayette County coroner. He died of traumatic brain injury.

Bender was injured about 11 a.m. Wednesday on the ramp from southbound I-75 to Man o' War Boulevard.

Bender lost control of the 2003 Harley Davidson at the top of the ramp, was thrown from the bike and struck his head on the pavement, Lexington police said in a news release.

Bender was not wearing a helmet.
