Laurel County School Superintendent arrested on DUI charge

Laurel County School Superintendent David Young is facing a drunken-driving charge.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Department arrested Young on Saturday night, after a deputy found him inside a truck that had crashed on U.S. 25. He was booked into the Laurel County jail about 7 p.m. and was released on bond soon after 8 p.m., a detention center spokesman said.

Young is charged with driving under the influence, resisting arrest and possessing prescription drugs not in their original container.

Laurel County School board chairman Charles Stuber said that no meeting between the board and Young has been scheduled. If a meeting is called, he said, it would be a special meeting with 24 hours' advance notice, as required under the state open-meetings law.
