A man and woman are being held in the Knox County Detention Center on multiple charges after authorities found two children walking down a street unattended.
Elizabeth Osario, the mother of the children, and Leroy Boatwright, who was arrested with her, are charged with neglect, manufacturing methamphetamine, wanton endagerment and fleeing from police, according to detention center officials.
The case began Sunday afternoon when a Knox County sheriff's deputy noticed two children, ages 3 and 5, walking down Terrell Lane in Barbourville unattended.
The children led police to their residence, where officers found Osario and Boatwright asleep inside the front door.
Police said they found drug pharaphernalia and a working meth lab in the house.
Osario and Boatwright were arrested, and authorities said the children were taken to a hospital to be decontaminated from any effects of being exposed to meth-making materials.
