Authorities, acting on a phone call, found human remains in a partially burned pickup truck in a remote area of Owsley County on Saturday, Kentucky State Police in Richmond said.
The remains were found in the driver's seat of the 1997 green Ford F-150, which was on Caney Fork Road. The truck's cab and engine compartment had fire damage, state police said.
Officials from state police, the Owsley County sheriff's department and the Owsley County coroner's office left the remains as they were found, and the vehicle was taken by wrecker to the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort for further investigation, state police said.
