Tornado relief fund surpasses $125,000

Lexington: More than $125,000 was raised for tornado relief in Oklahoma through a fundraising campaign organized by the Bluegrass Chapter of the American Red Cross.

“The generosity we’ve experienced has been amazing,” Terry Burkhart, CEO of the Bluegrass chapter of the Red Cross, said in a news release about the effort that was promoted by the Herald-Leader and other media partners, including WLEX (Channel 18), WKYT (Channel 27), WTVQ (Channel 36), WDKY (Channel 56), Clear Channel Communications, Cumulus Broadcasting, LM Communications and Smiley Pete Publishing.
