An 11-mile stretch of southbound Interstate75 in Whitley County, near the Tennessee line, reopened about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday after two wrecks caused it to close for more than four hours.

Minor injuries were reported in the two weather-related crashes, which involved eight vehicles, Whitely County Sheriff Colan Harrell said.

The first accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. near about two miles north of the state line and involved a car and a truck, Harrell said.

The second accident, about a mile farther south, involved four tractor-trailers and two other vehicles, Harrell said. Two drivers were taken to Jellico Community Hospital with minor injuries, Harrell said.

Interstate traffic was detoured from Exit 0 to Exit 11 during the closing.
