The Salvation Army is near its goal for Central Kentucky for contributions through the Red Kettle Campaign.

The campaign has raised $466,630.32, the Salvation Army said. Its goal for Central Kentucky is $485,000.

The traditional outdoor bell-ringing kettle campaign ended Dec. 24, but Kentuckians may donate until Dec. 31 by going to www.onlineredkettle.org/centralKY. Also, those who donate blood at the Kentucky Blood Center may donate their gift of two movie passes (a $16 value) to the Red Kettle Campaign.

Donations help the Salvation Army provide lodging for homeless women and children, feed hungry families, and help at-risk youth receive preschool and after-school educational support.
