Salvation Army nears goal for Red Kettle Campaign in Central Kentucky

The Salvation Army is near its goal for Central Kentucky for contributions through the Red Kettle Campaign.

The campaign has raised $466,630.32, the Salvation Army said. Its goal for Central Kentucky is $485,000.

The traditional outdoor bell-ringing kettle campaign ended Dec. 24, but Kentuckians may donate until Dec. 31 by going to Also, those who donate blood at the Kentucky Blood Center may donate their gift of two movie passes (a $16 value) to the Red Kettle Campaign.

Donations help the Salvation Army provide lodging for homeless women and children, feed hungry families, and help at-risk youth receive preschool and after-school educational support.
