London man asking for money on I-75 charged with public intoxication

A London man begging for money beside the interstate to feed his children was intoxicated and doesn’t have any kids, Laurel County Sheriff John Root said in a news release.

Deputy Larry Parrott charged Ryan Hall, 20, with public intoxication after the incident, according to the news release.

Hall was standing beside the southbound ramp of Interstate 75 at exit 29 in southern Laurel County Sunday afternoon with a sign that read “stranded trying to feed two kids – anything helps.”

When Parrott checked, he found Hall was intoxicated. Hall admitted drinking cough syrup and smoking marijuana, according to the news release.

Parrott also learned Hall doesn’t have kids, was not stranded and that a friend had dropped him off to try to get donations from motorists, according to Root.
