A woman died after a collision between a dump truck and a passenger vehicle in Johnson County on Monday.

The crash occurred as Terry Henry of Wellington was trying to make a left turn from Browns Fork onto northbound U.S. 23 in a 2007 Mack dump truck, according to a news release from state police.

Paula Fields of Paintsville was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on U.S. 23, and her vehicle hit the driver's side of the dump truck as it crossed the southbound lanes at 2:02 p.m.

A passenger in Fields' vehicle, Orpha Childers of Paintsville, was pronounced dead at Paul B. Hall Medical Center.

Fields was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

Henry was not injured.
