A crash on westbound Interstate 64 in Shelby County on Thursday killed one person, state police said.
The wreck near Simpsonville involved one vehicle, which apparently veered off the interstate into an embankment and struck a tree.
Four people were in the vehicle when it crashed. The driver was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, and two passengers were taken to Kosair Children's Hospital.
The fourth person was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
State police did not provide the time of the crash, but the Associated Press reported that the interstate was closed for several hours before reopening at at 7 p.m.
