16-year-old girl found dead at Lincoln Village Regional Juvenile Detention Center

Herald Leader Staff Report

A 16-year-old girl was found dead in her cell Monday morning at the Lincoln Village Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Elizabethtown.

State and local officials said the death is being investigated by Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown.

An autopsy was scheduled Monday, said Department of Corrections spokeswoman Lisa Lamb.

KSP post 4 spokesman Jeff Gregory told the Associated Press foul play is not suspected.

The name of the inmate and other details have not been released.

The state hasn’t had a fatality in a juvenile center since 1999, Lamb said.
