Tornado damage in Morgan County, and the influx of emergency vehicles and rescue workers, has prompted corrections officials to cancel visitation at the Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex until further notice.
Officials said visitation is important for inmates' rehabilitation, but the cancellation was necessary to make sure visitor traffic doesn't hinder relief efforts.
There are about 1,700 inmates at the prison, which was not damaged in the storm. It is about 11/2 miles outside downtown West Liberty, which was destroyed.
