Is it worth it? I ask myself that question each time I receive another Herald-Leader subscription price increase (as a measure of reference, I spent my teens delivering The Courier-Journal for 45 cents a week); leafing through the useless, even to this University of Kentucky sports fan, sports pages full of who we gonna get, and how are who we got doing in the NBA; full page after full page of auto and hearing-aid ads; uncurling the curls and refolding the folds; and, worst of all, removing the weekly half-page ad covering the front page.
But then comes one with a satirical column by Tom Eblen about possible future Ark park attractions and an op-ed by Teri Carter about police shootings of black people — two great writings in one section of one issue. And maybe somewhere therein will be a human interest piece by Cheryl Truman.
So, yes, that makes it worth it.
