Voting is best remedy for students

File photo

For those students appalled by the pusillanimous establishment responses to the school massacres: There is something they can do. Register to vote. There are and will be candidates running for local and national offices who are not stooges of the National Rifle Association, who won’t patronize them or hide paranoid aggression behind slogans and bluster. Show up for the demonstrations and marches, yes, but register, find these courageous candidates and vote for them. That is the most lasting way to become the change you want to see.

I write as a retiree, registered Republican, former gun owner and veteran.
