I am a registered Democrat. I am not ashamed by the performance of my members of Congress during the State of the Union. To suggest that anyone be ashamed for not standing and applauding is laughable. At least nobody yelled "You lie!" Remember that?
Beating each other over the head with insults serves no purpose. I think it's great when Republicans reach across the aisle. There is no reason for slapping anyone in the face for doing so, unless they are reaching across the aisle and grabbing you by the you-know-what. Why do Republicans feel the need to take a chance on getting slapped in the face? They control all branches of government. What are they afraid of?
President Donald Trump is a collection of terrible traits. If you find your support for him waning, you have but one solution: Vote Democratic in the midterms. He is a flawed vehicle that Republicans will ride as long as they believe he will sign anything that is put in front of him.
Trump has confessed—no, bragged—about assaulting women, called Nazis fine people, insulted gold star families, discriminated against minorities and cheated on his wife with a porn star. I don't think I'm the one who should be ashamed. Sad.
