I live in Eastern Kentucky and I have seen the diminishing of coal production for the last 35 years. President Barack Obama said several times that the coal would be gone in the near future because of cheaper and cleaner fuel. Obama even allocated millions of dollars for coal miners to be trained for new technologies. Thanks to politicians in Kentucky, West Virginia and other coal states, they claimed Obama had a war on coal. Our own senator Mitch McConnell caused this gossip.
One of West Virginia’s coal operators, former CEO of Massey Energy Don Blankenship, is running for the U.S. Senate. Lest we forget, 29 coal miners were killed in 2010 in his mine and Blankenship served a little time. He was responsible for this disaster and should have at least spent one year of incarceration for each miner.
How can anyone, especially miners, vote for this person to represent West Virginia in Congress?
