‘Gate’ may slam shut on Trump

So President Donald Trump is pleased with himself for his choice of “Spygate” as a designation for imaginary, clandestine surveillance of his campaign.

I’d like to remind him that the “gate” suffix entered the vernacular as a result of a president of the United States engaging in illegal activity; a president who subsequently resigned in disgrace.

In this case, while exhibiting an obvious lack of imagination, the use of the term “gate” might just prove prophetic.
