Parade coverage discouraging

I was very disappointed in the coverage of the Fourth of July parade.

Contrary to what the article suggested, the parade was well-attended and well-received. My family and I participated on behalf of the Kenwick Neighborhood Association and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Rather than criticize the number and quality of the entries, the Herald-Leader ought to encourage more participation by highlighting, rather than dismissing, the efforts of those participating.

Bleachers appreciated

I want to thank whoever was responsible for the placement of bleachers along the Fourth of July parade route.

They were a great blessing to me and others with minor medical problems who cannot stand for long periods of time. It was fantastic to be able to enjoy the parade without pain.

I hope to see bleachers used again for future parades.
