Chandler not to blame for debt
A recent flier from the Republican Party of Kentucky that has a banner "Ben Chandler has run up $9 trillion in new debt in 8 years" states an impossible outcome. Chandler did not even vote for most of the items that caused the huge deficit.
The huge deficit we have was caused by George W. Bush and the Republicans in Congress who squandered a surplus and spent us into a huge deficit. It was caused by two wars that were not paid for, two tax cuts mostly for the wealthy, a prescription drug program that was not paid for and deregulation that caused the economy to crash and necessitated bank bailouts and other measures to rebuild the economy.
Mitt Romney has policies that will lead to more damage to our economy similar to or worse than the damage caused by Bush.

Truth matters. The GOP needs to accept accountability.
It's a coin toss
In amazement, I tolerate the lies of those candidates wanting to "help us all" but only after they (Andy Barr and Ben Chandler) decide whether Heath Lovell is a coal miner. Lovell presented proof he was a coal miner. How stupid does Chandler think we are?
Elected officials have come to perceive themselves as an elite group, exempt from their own passed laws, exempt from a health care system good for us but not for them, and exempt from taking part in Social Security, for their own generous system instead. This is called entitlement.
Constituents are not happy and they are scared. Until we elect honorable people, our country will suffer disgracefully. I, like many, am so disgusted with the choices, that I will use the "flip a coin" method to vote this time. The fact is, many are wondering: Could we survive four more years of Barack Obama?
Mossotti makes a difference
I have known Jennifer Mossotti for over 25 years and recommend her to fill the 9th District council seat she is competing for. As a constituent I have found that Lexington has really benefited from her extremely dedicated service during her previous terms. Mossotti welcomes all issues and input from constituents by being very responsible and accessible. She will serve with a passion for what is right and best for our community. Voters of the 9th District can be an important voice by voting for Jennifer Mossotti on Nov. 6. Let's bring her back to the council.
Jobs or clean air
Andy Barr's campaign spots on television denounce regulation of the coal industry because it will result in the loss of jobs. I believe continuing to ignore how "clean coal" harms our environment and threatens our health will result in a multitude of new jobs for Kentuckians, such as: lung specialists, nurses, state-registered nurse aides, home health aides, respiratory therapists, radiologists, cancer specialists and support staff for hospitals, nursing homes and clinics.
The citizens of the commonwealth deserve clean air and clean water. If that means maintaining strict regulations on the coal industry to ensure they truly mine coal in the cleanest way possible, so be it.
