What a surprise! The Herald-Leader editorial board endorsed another Democratic candidate. This time it was for state House 56th District, with incumbent Rep. Carl Rollins receiving the nod. Rollins' endorsement is yet another example of the political bias and unwavering allegiance of the editorial staff to the Democratic Party.
The endorsement cites Rollins' quick rise (second term) to chair of the Education Committee — an appointment Rollins recently described as a result of "backing the right man," meaning his support for Greg Stumbo for House Speaker. Thus, the appointment as chair was payback for Rollins' support.
The endorsement goes on to give Rollins credit for legislation conceived and written by other members and interest groups, but for which Rollins benefitted due to his appointment by Stumbo.
With its consistent endorsement of incumbent Democrats, the board perpetuates the failed policies that recently ranked Kentucky as the worst-run state in America by 24/7 Wall St., a financial news service.
It's time for 'A New Day, A New Direction" in Kentucky.
