Meet our letter writers: Susan Washburn

Widow for almost 18 years, 74, Grayson; been a secretary and waitress; .No children, seven sisters and two brothers, all living; Irish Catholic.

What motivates you to write?

I write due to the passions I feel for all things — right or wrong. My motto has always been, "If you don't stand up for your rights, you lose them." I no longer recognize the country I was born in. The innocence, we shall never see again. Thank you for allowing me to express my passions. It is indeed a release.

What shaped your worldview?

My views grew when I was suddenly alone and started becoming aware of what was trying to affect my life and found no redeeming qualities in it — the government.
