Ornelas leads Lake Elsinore to 8-1 win over Inland Empire

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (AP) -- Tirso Ornelas homered and had two hits, driving in two as the Lake Elsinore Storm topped the Inland Empire 66ers 8-1 on Saturday.

Lake Elsinore took the lead in the first when Eguy Rosario and Ornelas scored on an error and Gabriel Arias hit an RBI single.

Inland Empire answered in the top of the next frame when Alvaro Rubalcaba hit an RBI single, driving in Kyle Survance to cut the deficit to two.

The Storm later added runs in four additional innings to put the game away.

Caleb Boushley (2-0) got the win with three innings of scoreless, three-hit relief while Inland Empire starter Oliver Ortega (0-1) took the loss in the California League game.

Lake Elsinore took advantage of some erratic Inland Empire pitching, drawing a season-high nine walks in its victory.

Jordan Zimmerman doubled and singled twice for the 66ers.

Lake Elsinore improved to 5-2 against Inland Empire this season.
