Kentucky State rehires Head as Thorobreds’ athletics director

FRANKFORT — Kentucky State has rehired former athletics director William K. Head for the position he previously held from 1985-89.

Head also coached the Thorobreds in football, golf and track and field during his previous stint at the school. He has been an AD at four other universities at four levels, including Fisk from 2006-09, during which Head guided the Nashville school’s transition from NCAA Division III to NAIA Division II.

Head also served as interim AD at Alabama State from 1999-2001.

KSU president Raymond M. Burse said in a statement that he has known Head for a long time and added, “I am confident of the positive impact his return will have on the athletics program.”

Head earned both a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from Tennessee State, and he earned his bachelor’s degree from Fisk.
