Four-run third starts Augusta to easy victory

A four-run third inning gave Augusta the lead, and the hometown GreenJackets routed the Lexington Legends 11-2 Saturday night.

James Simmons and Dom Duggan had the Legends flustered after reaching base on back-to-back bunt singles to start the third. Nick Noonan hit a chopper to the infield but was ruled safe to load the bases.

Angel Villalona later doubled to center field for two runs and a 5-2 GreenJacket lead.

Augusta added three runs in the sixth off reliever Carlos Ladeuth. Jack Tilghman was tagged for three more runs in the eighth. The GreenJackets had four hits, including an RBI double by James Simmons.

Augusta starter Chance Corgan (4-5) picked up the win with seven strikeouts in six innings.

Lexington's Anthony Bello, looking for his fifth consecutive win, allowed five earned runs and eight hits in five innings.

Brian Pellegrini led the Legends with a two-run double in the first inning.

Eight of the nine Legends in the lineup reached base.

Augusta was led by Juan Ciriaco, who extended his hitting streak to six games.
