Television station WTVQ of Lexington has joined the Cardinal Sports Network, which broadcasts University of Louisville athletics across the state.
Fans in Lexington will be able to see U of L games, starting with Saturday's football season opener against Indiana State, on WTVQ's sister station, MyTVQ2, which is Channel 138 on Insight Communications digital cable.
MyTVQ2 is available off-air to more than 800,000 Central Kentucky viewers who have an antenna and a digital converter box (or, a built-in digital tuner) on their TV set.
MyTVQ2 is currently not available from the satellite providers DISH Network and DirecTV.

MyTVQ2 is available from several area cable providers, including Time Warner on Channel 304 or 186.
"This is a win-win for the station and college sports fans all across Central and Eastern Kentucky," said Chris Aldridge, general manager of WTVQ. "We know that that the University of Louisville has a large local fan base that will enjoy seeing the games."
In addition to Saturday's football game, the Cardinal Sports Network will broadcast 10-12 men's basketball games and the weekly Courtside with Rick Pitino show beginning in November. The network might pick up two additional football games.
