Former University of Kentucky tennis star Jesse Witten, ranked No. 184 according to ATP rankings, will make his French Open debut Monday in the first round against Marcos Baghdatis.
Witten, who played his way into the tournament last week when he won three qualifying matches, has previously qualified for the U.S. Open twice (2006 and 2009).
Witten, a Naples, Fla., native who played at Kentucky from 2002 to 2005, was a four-time men's singles All-American. He was the 2005 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year.
Baghdatis is 29th in the ATP rankings.
