High school basketball highlights: Jan. 6


Lafayette overcame Jack Whitman's game-high 35 points to beat host Lexington Catholic 63-60 in overtime. Jackson Davis had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Generals (5-9). Lexington Catholic (12-3) went 2-for-21 from three-point range.

■ Junior guard Will Gary had 34 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Paul Dunbar past Lexington Christian 84-79. Two other Bulldogs had double-doubles: junior guard Mike Smith (18 points, 10 rebounds) and junior forward Taylor King (14 points and 10 rebounds). Senior guard Taylor Barnette had 32 points for LCA.


■ Senior center Peyton Hisel had 18 points and nine rebounds to lead host Tates Creek to a 44-32 victory over Lexington Christian. Tates Creek (6-10) started the game with a 14-4 run to take control. Senior center Kristen Jacob led LCA (6-9) with 19 points and 16 rebounds.

■ Gabby Bowie had 14 points, eight rebounds and five blocks to lead Sayre (8-3) to a 40-38 win at Richmond Model (5-10). Darrian Botts had 13 points for Model.

Bryan Station scored the last 13 points of the game and beat visiting Lafayette 45-28. Victoria McCoy had 14 points for Bryan Station. Lafayette, which shot 11.5 percent in the second half, was led by Ken'yale Demus with 11 points.
