High school basketball highlights: Sayre boys overcome Wolfe County's 18 threes; Eastern edges Henry Clay in OT

Wolfe County hit 18 three-pointers and Bradley Lawson had a triple-double, but Sayre's boys prevailed 72-65 in the Kentucky Bank Classic at Bourbon County.

The Spartans led by as many as 18 points before having to hold off the Wolves' challenge. Sayre's Quinn Pergande had 19 points and 23 rebounds, and Robbie Goodman scored 21.

Lawson hit five three-pointers for Wolfe County, who were 18-for-40 overall. He finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.

Devin Stone made eight three-pointers and wound up with 26 points and three assists.

■ Lexington Catholic, ranked 10th in the coaches' preseason poll, used a 16-5 run in the second quarter to pull away in a 77-55 victory at home against North Hardin.

The Knights' Tanner Johnson was 12-for-20 from the field with 29 points, eight rebounds, seven steals and four assists. Reese Ryan added eight points and six assists.

■ Cameron Reed hit a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left in overtime to give No. 20 Eastern a 74-72 win against Henry Clay in Lexington. He finished with 23 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Isaiah Tisdale also scored 23 and had seven assists for the Blue Devils.

■ Boyle County's Hagen Tyler, who has signed with Northern Kentucky, had 22 points and 14 rebounds in a 90-75 victory against Knox Central.

Girls' highlights

■ Gabby Bowie scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Sayre's 41-37 win at home against Bryan Station.

■ Autumn Herriford had 10 points, six rebounds and three steals in Paul Laurence Dunbar's 39-36 win at Lexington Catholic.
