Kentucky's archrival Louisville continues to enjoy unprecedented success this school year: victory over Florida in the Orange Bowl, national championship in men's basketball, national runner-up in women's basketball, advancement to the College World Series in baseball.

When asked Tuesday his reaction to U of L's abundant success, UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart said, "They had a nice year. They did some things in major sports. They are to be congratulated."

Barnhart then noted the pride he takes in UK's success in a broad range of sports. He did mention men's basketball.

"It's not like we didn't win a national championship two years ago," he said. "Don't forget we won that."

Barnhart also noted the women's basketball team had advanced to the Elite Eight three times in the last four years.

When asked if he watched Louisville teams compete this school year, Barnhart suggested he did. He then noted that he does not limit his rooting interest to UK teams. He also pulls for all Southeastern Conference teams, he said.

That led to a question about whether he pulled for U of L teams. To which Barnhart said in a deadpan voice, "I always pull for the SEC."
