The University of Louisville will host one of eight NCAA Baseball Super Regionals as the Cardinals face Oklahoma State Friday-Sunday at Jim Patterson Stadium. The winner of the best-of-three games will advance to the College World Series on June 15-25 in Omaha, Neb.
In its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, the Cardinals (44-21) won the Columbia, Mo. Regional in defeating top seed and 11th-ranked Missouri 16-6 on Monday in the championship game.
No. 3 seed U of L, which also knocked off Miami (Fla.) twice and Missouri on Sunday along the way, advances to its first-ever Super Regional.
When the Cardinals beat the Hurricanes 13-7 on Friday it marked U of L's first-ever victory in NCAA Baseball Tournament play. First-year head coach Dan McDonnell has guided the Cardinals to a school-record 44 victories. Oklahoma State (41-19) advanced by winning the Fayetteville Regional also as a No. 3 seed, claiming OSU's first regional title since 1999. The Cowboys knocked off top-seed Arkansas in Sunday's championship final.
