Lipscomb powers past Georgia

Ryan Wilkins hit one of three homers to help Lipscomb stun Georgia 10-7 in its first appearance in the NCAA baseball tournament.

The Bisons (33-28), who finished third in the Atlantic Sun but got in by winning the conference tournament in a 15-inning championship game, showed they belonged by beating up on the champions of the powerful Southeastern Conference in the Athens Regional.

Caleb Joseph and Blake Bratcher also went deep for the Bisons.

Georgia (35-22-1) lost for the fifth time in six games and now faces an elimination game Saturday against either Georgia Tech or Louisville.

Baton Rouge regional

LSU 12, Texas Southern 1: Blake Dean belted two home runs and drove in four to help LSU extend its nation's-best winning streak to 21.

Dean hit a three-run shot in the first and added a solo shot in the fifth to give LSU (44-16-1) a 7-0 lead against overmatched Texas Southern (16-33), the surprise winner of the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament.

Tigers starter Jordan Brown (4-0) carried a three-hit shutout into the top of the sixth before yielding Earnest Rhone's home run.

Coral Gables regional

Missouri 7, Mississippi 0: Aaron Crow pitched a three-hitter and Missouri (39-19) defeated Mississippi (37-25). Crow (13-0) struck out 10 in his fourth complete game and fourth shutout of the season.

Miami 7, Bethune Cookman 4: Dave DiNatale had two hits and Blake Tekotte hit a two-run single in the seventh to help top seed Miami (48-8) defeat Bethune-Cookman.

Lincoln regional

Nebraska 13, Eastern Illinois 10: Jake Opitz hit two home runs and Tyler Farst and Craig Corriston added one each as Nebraska (41-14-1) beat Eastern Illinois (27-29).

Tallahassee regional

Tulane 7, Florida 4: Tulane (38-20-1) scored six runs in the seventh, erasing a three-run deficit in a win over Florida (34-23).

Raleigh regional

South Carolina 15, Charlotte 8: DeAngelo Mack and James Darnell hit home runs to lead South Carolina past Charlotte.

Justin Smoak had four hits and three RBI for the second-seeded Gamecocks (39-21), who scored the first nine runs in cruising into the second round. Aaron Bray, Rob Lyerly and Alan Parks homered for the 49ers (43-15) to back freshman Sam Dyson (8-0).

Stanford regional

Pepperdine 4, Arkansas 3: Chase d'Arnaud hit a home run in the sixth inning to snap a tie and Nathan Newman (8-4) pitched 62⁄3 strong innings to lead Pepperdine (37-19) past Arkansas.

Tempe regional

Oklahoma 8, Vanderbilt 5: Mike Gosse went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to lead Oklahoma (35-24-1) past Vanderbilt (40-21).

Conway regional

Alabama 16, East Carolina 3: Alabama hit five home runs and had 21 hits in a rout of East Carolina.

Jake Smith and Matt Bentley hit three-run homers for the Crimson Tide (35-26). Ross Wilson, Kent Matthes and Wes Henderson also homered.

Crimson Tide starter Austin Hyatt struck out nine Pirates and allowed just three runs over eight innings.

No. 2. seed East Carolina (40-20) will play fourth-seeded Columbia in an elimination game Saturday.
