State college basketball roundup: Centre men, UofL women win


Centre 73, Stevenson 53: Senior forward Blake Scinta notched his fifth double-double of the season and freshman guard Carson Ebert knocked down 6-of-9 shots from behind the arc to lead Centre over Stevenson in the Colonels’ second game in the HoopMIA D3 Holiday Shootout at Florida Christian School in Miami.


Louisville 71, Charleston 67: Myisha Hines-Allen totaled 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Cardinals. Briahanna Jackson added 19 points and seven rebounds, and Mariya Moore earned her second career double-double with 15 points and 12 assists.

Louisville (7-5) finished the game 50.9 percent from the floor and held a 40-20 advantage on the boards.

Maryville 69, Transylvania 57: Four Pioneers tallied double-digit points but, Transylvania dropped a nonconference road match to the No. 13 Scots. Rachel Cox led the Pioneers with 14 points. Katelyn Smith added a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

N.C. State 73, Eastern Kentucky 62: A solid defensive effort saw the EKU force 18 North Carolina State turnovers, but a late 6-0 run helped the Wolf-pack to the win at the Gator Holiday Classic. The Colonels (4-5) converted 18 Wolfpack turnovers into 24 points. Jalen O'Bannon led EKU with 17 points and six rebounds

Kentucky State 72, Kentucky Wesleyan 64: Jamesha Mosley had 24 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead the Thorobrettes, who claimed their third straight win and their second over Kentucky Wesleyan this season.
