September is for pretenders, November is for contenders, according to Herd Coach Mark Snyder. ... The pivotal matchup figures to be the Marshall offensive line against the ECU defensive front. "Absolutely, inside is going to be the key, our guards and center against their guys," Snyder said. ... The Pirates upset Virginia Tech and West Virginia at the start before going on a three-game losing streak later on. ... Jon Williams and Norman Whitley are ECU's top runners. Patrick Pinkney has passed for 1,331 yards and shares time with Rob Kass. ... Marshall LB Maurice Kitchens leads his team with 59 tackles and three interceptions. He set up two TDs in a 37-23 win over Houston with an 80-yard fumble return and an interception. Darius Marshall leads the Herd running game.

Georgetown at Lambuth

What to watch: Georgetown seniors are making their last road trip, and Coach Bill Cronin wants them to have fun and upset the No. 13 Eagles. "It's our own little title game," said Cronin, whose team must win its final two starts for a winning record. "We have to refuse to be beaten." ... Lambuth's line, "the biggest and most aggressive defensive line we've seen all year," Cronin said, will challenge Georgetown's offensive front. The Tigers have to give QB Mike Lewis time to throw. ...Lambuth uses a lot of formations, Cronin added. "Our players must recognize personnel as well as formation during each play."

Morehead State at Drake

What to watch: These teams are playing for a place in the first division of the Pioneer League. A strong finish could elevate their spot in the standings. ... MSU QB Evan Sawyer is doubtful with a knee injury. Jared Phillips had 263 total yards in a 44-10 win over Valparaiso last week. HB Jerrod Pendleton scored three touchdowns for the Eagles. CB David Hyland returned an interception for a TD and had six tackles, including a sack. ... Morehead is third in tackles for loss (8.7 a game) in the Championship Subdivision.

Western Kentucky at Troy

What to watch: The Hilltoppers will try to end a five-game losing streak when they travel to the current Sun Belt runner-up Trojans. Time is running out to defeat a Bowl Subdivision team in Western's final transition year to the FBS. ... The Toppers are coming off a 51-40 homecoming loss to North Texas. WKU, trailing 45-40, failed three times from the NT 1-yard line. The last play was a 97-yard interception return for a TD. "It doesn't get any more frustrating and disappointing than this," WKU Coach David Elson said. ... Troy averages 432 total yards a game; Western averages 306.

What to watch: These teams may have losing records, but they are the top passing teams in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Racers average 240 yards a game; the Redhawks average 236. Murray QB Jeff Ehrhardt leads the league with 271 passing yards a game. ... Murray LB Nathan Williams has 141 tackles, 19 behind Donald White's school record set in 1981. ... WR Derrick Townsel leads the OVC in catches and yards a game in league action. ... SEMO QB Houston Lillard has thrown for 1,892 yards this season.
