Lindsey Wilson deals Pikeville first loss

No. 24 Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 28-3 lead in the first half and No. 25 Pikeville couldn’t recover despite scoring 17 straight third-quarter points. The host Blue Raiders held on to win 35-26 on Saturday.

Lindsey Wilson moved to 4-0 for the first time in program history and is 1-0 in the Mid-South Conference East Division. Pikeville fell to 3-1 and 1-1 in the MSC East.

Lindsey Wilson’s Rome Cotton ran for a game-high 142 yards and quarterback Branden Cresap racked up 271 yards on 15-for-26 passing. He threw for three touchdowns with three interceptions.

Pikeville quarterback A.J. Graham threw for 314 yards and one interception, and also rushed for 53 yards.

Western Kentucky 58, Morgan State 17: Host Western Kentucky took its early-season frustrations out on Morgan State behind 291 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns from Antonio Andrews.

Andrews’ five scores broke the WKU (2-2) record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game.

Centre College 37, Washington & Lee 28: Junior quarterback Heath Haden threw for 377 yards and two TDs for the host Colonels (3-0).

Senior running back Harry Meisner rushed for 115 yards and scored three times.

Luke Terna and Nick Lombardo both rushed for more than 100 yards for Washington & Lee (1-1).

Bowling Green 48, Murray State 7: Matt Johnson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as host Bowling Green routed Murray State.

Jaamal Berry’s 2-yard touchdown run in the third was the only score for Murray (2-2). The Racers couldn’t stop the Bowling Green offense, which totaled 660 yards.

Webber International 20, Union 19: Trailing 19-14 with 2:32 to play, the visiting Warriors (2-2) drove from their 41 for the game-winning touchdown. From the 3 on fourth down, Cameron Joseph hit Kody Sallis just inside the end zone with 28 seconds left.

Union (0-3) heaved a desperation pass from its 38 that was picked off as time expired.
