Dayton shuts down Morehead run game

Connor Kacsor ran for 159 yards and a touchdown as Dayton pulled away in the second half to beat Morehead State 42-14 on Saturday.

Dayton (6-2, 4-1 Pioneer) broke a 14-14 tie in the third quarter with touchdowns on four consecutive drives, beginning with a 7-yard touchdown run by Kacsor. Will Bardo then had a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs to put the Flyers up 35-14 midway through the fourth. Robert Washington later ran for a 2-yard score for the final margin.

Dayton had 313 yards rushing and scored five touchdowns on the ground. Gary Hunter led the way receiving with six catches for 117 yards. It was the fourth straight game in which the Flyers have scored over 40 points.

Morehead State (3-5, 3-2) managed just 41 yards rushing and 223 total yards.

Georgetown 48, Pikeville 13: Georgetown opened with three drives for 21 points and never looked back.

Tigers quarterback Neal Pawsat threw for a touchdown, 21-of-30 for 232 yards, and ran for two more. He got banged up in the third quarter and gave way to sophomore Tanner Evans.

Evans did not miss a beat; the first play from scrimmage was a 21-yard touchdown strike. He finished 6-of-10 with 106 yards.

Campbellsville 24, Cumberland 19: After an anemic start for both teams, Campbellsville took the lead on a 19-yard interception return by Sedric Watson late in the third quarter and never trailed after that.

Union 24, Kentucky Christian 17: Union's offense could not find its rhythm in the first half, but an interception return by Michael Lowder for a touchdown jump-started the offense.

Lindsey Wilson 49, Belhaven 15: Rome Cotton rushed for a program-record 189 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Lindsey Wilson over host Belhaven.

Tuskegee 36, Kentucky St. 7: The Thorobreds racked up 14 penalties for 129 yards en route to a thumping by visiting Tuskegee. Kentucky State got its lone touchdown on a 2-yard run from Jac Lockett late in the third quarter.
