Former University of Kentucky standout DeMarcus Cousins is in Spain for the start of the FIBA World Cup of Basketball on Saturday.
Big Cuz's path to making Team USA and earning his shot on the international stage was a long time in the making.
USA Basketball conducted a detailed interview with Cousins, the team's backup center behind fellow former Cat Anthony Davis, and posted this story, in which Cousins discusses his recent injury, his reputation as a player and the "huge accomplishment" he felt in making Team USA.
“People don’t really realize how tough it is to really be a part of this," said Cousins, who plays for the NBA's Sacramento Kings. "Just the likes of some of the players that didn’t make it – the Damian Lillards, the John Walls, it shows you how tough it really is.”
