UK sports: Women’s soccer rolls over Butler 4-1

More than 1,000 fans packed the Bell Soccer Complex on Sunday night to watch the 13th-ranked Kentucky women’s soccer team defeat Butler 4-1. UK wrapped up non-conference play with a 6-1-1 record, and combined with a pair of Southeastern Conference victories is 8-1-1 overall.

Michaela Dooley opened the Cats’ scoring with her fourth goal of the season in the 30th minute. In the second half, just three minutes in, Cara Ledman launched a 35-yard shot from the left flank for a score. The goal was Ledman’s third of the season.

Three minutes later, Jade Klump recorded her third goal on the season and 12th of her career with a toe-poke past the keeper after a double-deflection from Katy Keen and Courtney Raetzman, who were both given credit for assists.

Up 3-1, Kentucky got an insurance goal in the 88th minute as Ledman served the ball in to the box, and it was knocked in by the Butler defense.
