Three UK volleyball players receive All-America honors

Three University of Kentucky volleyball players received All-America recognition from the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Junior Stephanie Klefot was named to the second team. Sophomore Whitney Billings and junior Christine Hartmann received honorable mention.

The AVCA named three 14-player teams plus 82 honorable mention All-Americans.

Penn State's Deja McClendon, a sophomore from Manual High School in Louisville, was named to the first team.

Louisville junior Lola Arslanbekova made the third team. Louisville sophomore Taylor Brauneis received honorable mention, as did Western Kentucky junior Jordyn Skinner and sophomore Melanie Stutsman.

Kentucky tied its 2009 record of three players receiving All-America honors in the same season.

Klefot, who played at Assumption High School in Louisville, set Kentucky's single-season record with 608 digs in helping lead the Wildcats to the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.

Billings, from Helena, Ala., averaged 2.44 kills and 2.58 digs per set as UK's right-side attacker.

Hartmann, from St. Charles, Ill., dished out 11.20 assists per set while also contributing 1.01 kills per set.
