Kentucky's Johnson named again to USA softball team

University of Kentucky assistant softball coach Molly Johnson has been selected for the third time to play for the U.S. National Softball Team.
University of Kentucky assistant softball coach Molly Johnson has been selected for the third time to play for the U.S. National Softball Team.

University of Kentucky assistant softball coach Molly Johnson was one of 12 athletes named Wednesday to the 2012 USA Softball Women's National Team.

Additional athletes will be added to the team after a tryout later this month. This is Johnson's third selection to the national team.

UK's former All-America shortstop helped Team USA to the gold medal at the 2011 World Cup of Softball in July in Oklahoma City, Okla., and the 2011 Pan American Games in October in Guadalajara, Mexico.

At the Pan Am Games, Johnson paced the U.S. with a .706 batting average, going 12-for-17 with four doubles and eight RBI.
