For the second season in a row, the Kentucky women's track and field program will start the indoor season ranked in the preseason top 10. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ranked the Wildcats No. 6 in its initial computer rankings on Tuesday.
The Wildcats began 2014 ranked No. 6 as well.
Kentucky seeks to build off what was one of the best years in program history in 2014. UK's first meet of the year will be the Kentucky Invitational on Jan. 16 and 17 in Lexington.
Dezerea Bryant, the defending NCAA champion at 200 meters, is back for the Cats. She ran 300 meters in 36.70 seconds in December, which was the fourth-fastest indoor time at that distance ever by a collegian.
■ The Southeastern Conference was well represented in the rankings. Florida was No. 1, followed by Texas A&M, Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Kentucky and Arkansas at No. 7.
Also in the top-25 were Auburn (18th), Mississippi State (20th) and Missouri (24th).
■ Florida was also No. 1 in the men's indoor preseason rankings. Oregon, Arkansas, Texas A&M and Penn State rounded out the top five.
